First off... I want to send out a quick SCREW YOU to Dr. Mary Hanna. (You can read about her HERE) I believe there will be a special place in hell for people like you. Just think... Someday your children will be able to say proudly that their mom blatantly refused to honor her obligations and chose a huge paycheck over helping her fellow Americans. Yup, I'm sure they will be very proud.
On another note, I got an e-mail from my mom a couple days ago about some thong sandals that I should not purchase from wal-mart. Included in the e-mail was a link to the snopes article assuring everyone that these sandals have been linked to causing severe, acid like, burns on some people's feet. As I was perusing the snopes article, I noticed that the picture to the right, indicating an example of the sandals in question, were in fact the exact ones I received from my Brother In Law for my birthday in April! Scarier than that, I remember him telling me that "the kids picked these up and decided that you just had to have them". Now at the time, I thought that was very sweet, but I'm not quite sure now!!!! Were you all trying to kill me?? LOL Maybe there is some conspiracy going on in the house! LOL I do have to add here that the sandals never did any damage to my feet, so I guess I was one of the lucky ones. =)
Jason called me today to tell me something funny. Apparently the last manager at the store he is at now, just appeared on the bad check list. Now, if that isn't funny enough, I am going to add in this last bit of intrigue! The check that bounced was written on Christmas day. What? You don't understand what's funny about that? Perhaps I should explain to you that Family Dollar was CLOSED on Christmas Day. So then, that leaves us to ponder how he managed to write any check at ALL, much less one that never cleared the bank. Interesting how these things happen....
I've been putting off posting for the last couple of days. I have been so tired, it's just not even funny. Abbi is still not sleeping like she should be and to top it all off, both the babies have a horrible cold. I'm pretty sure Megan is coming down with it also. I've stocked up on cold meds, but it only helps just so much. And so the misery continues.
On Tuesday, we took John down for the tour of the school and interview. I did leave feeling better than I did when I arrived. Let's face it, 100 years ago, and even now in some countries, sending your child to boarding school isn't even a questionable thing. It's just what you do. Here though, it carries a different type of stigma and as a parent, I have questioned myself about this often. Am I really doing the right thing? After visiting, I can honestly say that I do think I am doing the right thing. The tour and interview went very well and I am very impressed with what I saw. We saw almost all of the grounds, except for the barn, and met the woman who will be John's teacher. There will be a total of 5 kids in his class and all of them are on Individualized Learning Plans so there are no "Class Standards" to live up to. I really like that. He bonded instantly with the boy he will be sharing a room with. That was nice to see. John certainly felt better after chatting for a few minutes with the other kids. It's a very traditional school which I LOVE. Everything is very old school, shaking hands, holding the door open, manners and morals. I'm in love. lol There are tons of activities for the kids to take advantage of, depending on how well they behave as well. I think John will learn a lot in his time there. We should know a date of admission by Friday. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that nothing happens with this final step.
We took the kids to the Rec center last night. Oh, and we took Teddy. LOL He goes almost everywhere with us. I think we may see about taking him with us to Alaska. LOL Anyway, we dropped the babies off in the kiddie care room and took the older 3 over to the small gym where we all engaged in a HUGE game of dodge ball! It was great! There must have been 35 to 40 kids in there. The kids had a blast and so did Jason. We played for about an hour before it was time to come home, eat and do homework. It was a fun night though. The kids always have fun there.
Well, not much else to report right now, we're off to do our taxes tonight. WOOhoooo!! This may be the last year I am happy about that, so I am going to get as much enjoyment out of it as possible. LOL
